COVID-19: Death Toll In India Crosses 200-Mark, Total Cases Up To 6,761
New Delhi: The number of deaths caused by novel coronavirus has crossed 200 in India.
According to latest figures made available by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 206 people have died of COVID-19, up from 199 in the last 24 hours. The number of positive cases in the country has risen to 6761, of which 6039 are active and 516 have been cured or discharged.
According to Health ministry, 15 states and Union Territories account for more than 95 per cent of India’s total coronavirus cases. Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, where cases are increasing at the fastest rate, account for a third of all detected cases in the country.
The global death toll currently stands at over 96,000 while the number of people to have contracted COVID-19 globally has crossed 1.6 million.
The USA has emerged as the global hotspot, with total cases numbering over 4.6 lakhs and deaths at over 16,000.
