New Delhi: Around 400 attendees of Markaz Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin in Delhi have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
“We were informed about Tablighi Jamaat congregation’s link to Covid-19 cases by Telangana. Since then we have carried out an intensive contact tracing and sampling process in the states where the attendees of this event had travelled to. So far, at least 400 positive cases have been identified from these states, which are linked with the Nizammudin Markaz cluster,” joint secretary, Union Health Ministry, Lav Aggarwal said.

The number may rise further since additional testing is underway, he added.
The authorities have identified around 9,000 persons across the country who had attended the event. They and their primary contacts have been quarantined in view of the coronavirus infection. Among them are 1306 foreign nationals, the Health Ministry said.
