COVID-19 In Odisha: Situation In Kalahandi Under Control, Says Chief Secretary

Bhubaneswar: Even as western Odisha districts have witnessed a surge in COVID-19 positive cases in the second wave, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Saturday said the situation in Kalahandi district is under control.

On the direction of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the chief secretary along with Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare department PK Mohapatra visited Kalahandi district to take stock of the COVID-19 management at ground level.

Mohapatra first visited the district Covid hospital and checked the treatment facilities like the number and condition of beds, ICU and availability of medicines. Later, he held a review meeting with district collector and other officials on the steps taken by the district administration for containing the spread of COVID-19.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, the chief secretary said the COVID-19 situation in the district is under control. But. considering the fast spread of the disease, steps will be taken for quarantine facility for infected people, isolation of the people coming from outside, increasing the RTPCR test and number of beds in ICU.

The chief secretary also said besides tightening the enforcement measures for COVID-19 regulations, awareness campaign will also be given a boost. A team of medical experts will be deputed and a life-support ambulance will be provided to the district, he added.
