New Delhi: India shattered its own previous record of single-day COVID-19 fatalities as the country witnessed 4,529 deaths due to the deadly virus infection on Tuesday. Also, 2,67,533 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the same duration.
India recorded 2.63 lakh new cases on Tuesday, the lowest since April 21. Fresh Covid cases went down below the three-lakh- mark for the first time on Monday, May 17.
The country had reported the highest ever cases of 4,14,188 on May 7.
Among the states, Maharashtra remains on top with the highest deaths so far.
India’s overall COVID-19 tally now stands at 2,54,96,330 with 32,26,719 active cases and 2,83,248 deaths so far.
