New Delhi: India reported the highest single-day peak in COVID-19 cases so far with 69,500 people testing positive on Wednesday, pushing the country’s tally past 27.5 lakh to stand at 27,67,274.
Besides, 977 fatalities were reported overnight in the country, the Union Health Ministry informed on Thursday.
On a positive note, the fatality rate dipped below 2 per cent and stood at 1.90 per cent with a total of 53,866 COVID-19 deaths so far.
About 73.91 per cent (20,96,664) people have recovered, including 58,794 patients in the last 24 hours, 24.20 per cent (6,86,395) are still under treatment. Moreover, the national positivity rate stands at 8.72 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3,26,61,252 samples have been tested in the country so far, including 9,18,470 on Wednesday.
