COVID-19: India Records Six-Month Low In Daily Cases

New Delhi: The country reported 18,732 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry informed on Sunday.

This daily number of COVID-19 cases is the lowest since July 1, when 18,653 cases were recorded.

Meanwhile, 279 deaths were recorded overnight, taking the overall toll to 1,47,622 since the outbreak in January.

The country’s overall positive cases stood at 1,01,87,850, with 2,78,690 active cases, the ministry said.

A surge in recoveries along with lower new cases has resulted in a consistent decline in the active cases of COVID-19 and low mortality, according to the ministry.

India’s cumulative recoveries stood at 95.78 per cent while all states/UTs have a recovery rate of more than 90 per cent, it further stated.

The daily new recoveries recorded in the country have been more than the daily cases registered for a month now. A release from the health ministry stated that India’s cumulative recoveries are highest in the world, Hindustan Times reported.
