New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: India has surpassed the United Kingdom (UK) to become the worst-hit country by COVID-19 with 2,97, 535, according to the Worldometer.
India is now only behind the United States (20 lakh), Brazil (8 lakh) and Russia (5 lakh).
The UK has so far seen 291,409 corona positive cases and 41,279 deaths.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, till 8 am on Friday, India reported the highest single-day rise of 10,956 new positives and 396 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 147195 and nationwide tally to 297535.
