Indian Olympian Sajan Prakash is stuck in Phuket, Thailand, but safe.
The 26-year-old swimmer, who represented India in the 2016 Rio Olympics and is preparing for his second Summer Games, was training at the FINA training centre in Phuket, when the World Health Organisation termed the novel coronavirus as a pandemic, leading to travel restrictions and lockdown by all countries.
Sajan told ToI said that some Hungarian swimmers, who were at the Phuket academy, returned home and tested positive for COVID-19.
The other swimmers, including Sajan, stayed back but none has contracted the disease.
Phuket has been identified as a COVID-19 hotspot, but Sajan said that he was staying indoors and is safe at the training centre.
Thailand has 1350 active cases of COVID-19, while 35 deaths have been reported so far.
