New Delhi: A 37-year-old journalist, who was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, jumped to his death from the fourth floor of the hospital on Monday afternoon.
He was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) but succumbed to the injuries later.
The deceased, a resident of Bhajanpura in northeast Delhi, worked with Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar. He used to cover the MCD beat. However, he was forced to resign after testing positive for the virus, sources said.
AIIMS, in its statement, said that he was recovering well from coronavirus but was recently put on medication after having bouts of disorientation.
“He was admitted to JPNATC on June 24 with COVID-19. He was stable on room air today and was to be shifted to general ward from the ICU,” it said.
He ran out of his room on Monday afternoon and rushed to the fourth floor of the building. Attendants went after him and tried to stop him but he broke the windowpane and jumped out, the statement added.
