Cuttack: The Dial 100 service, introduced by the Commissionerate Police, is now available in Cuttack.
“We have installed Dial 100 for Cuttack City today with 10 Operators working in each shift. This is the 2nd Dial 100 in Odisha after Bhubaneswar; was a long-felt need & has been established in a war footing with the help of BSNL & a private vendor to deal with current challenges,” Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi tweeted on Monday.
Sarangi said that 10 operators are working in two shifts to attend to the calls of people seeking help during the COVID-19 Lockdown.
People, who venture out of their houses for emergency works, can dial 100 to obtain necessary permission and direction during the lockdown period.
For those visiting medicine shops, the police commissioner had earlier said that people should dial 100 and the police control room will send an SMS to his/her mobile phone. By showing the message to the police, he/she will be allowed to visit the medicine shop, he added.
In case of a death, he advised that the relatives to dial 100 so that the police can assist them to visit the house of the deceased.
With regard to the purchase of vegetables and groceries, Sarangi advised people not to use their vehicles and visit the nearby vegetable and grocery shops by foot. “To minimise the movement of the people in purchasing these items, efforts are on to further strengthen the home delivery system,” he had added.
