COVID-19 Lockdown: Swiggy Resumes Services In Bhubaneswar, Mobile Vegetable Vans To Visit Different Wards Soon
Bhubaneswar: To ensure strict implementation of social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 lockdown, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to launch mobile vegetable van service in the city soon.
Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said that the mobile vegetable vans will visit each ward of the city to allow people to purchase vegetables near their house without visiting the nearby market. “The objective of introducing the mobile van service is to minimise mass congregation of people,” he added.
Apart from major vegetable markets in Unit-I, IV and Saheed Nagar, permission has been given to open 41 small vegetable markets in different wards of the city every day, he said.
“We have asked the vegetable vendors to advise people to maintain social distancing,” Chaudhary said.
With regard to home delivery of food items during the lockdown period, he said the BMC has allowed Bengaluru-based online food ordering and delivery company Swiggy to resumes its service in the city with immediate effect.
