Berhampur: Considering the surge in COVID-19 positive cases, Ganjam district administration on Saturday issued a direction that no officer and teacher would be allowed to leave headquarters.
The influx of migrant labourers from Covid hotspot states to the district has led to an upsurge of positive cases by three times within a week.
In order to contain the second wave, district collector Ganjam Vijay Amrit Kulange urged all officers of the district through video-conferencing to take precautionary steps on the day. As more Covid Care Centres will be needed, the district administration has asked the officials to keep ready all the schools except those where Class X students are studying.
The administration has decided to register the names of all the migrants who return to Ganjam. Stern action would be taken against those migrants who avoid to register their names.
The person, who tests positive for the virus, would be kept in home isolation for seven days and a poster pasted on his house. The entire premises of the house would be declared as quarantine.
The administration has also stressed the need to wear masks and use sanitisers for all the people as the first step to contain COVID-19. If anybody is found purchasing articles from any shop or shopping mall without a mask, a fine would be imposed on the shop or mall owner.
Besides, the administration has decided to vaccinate all bus drivers in the district.
