Bhubaneswar: After over two months, the daily count of new COVID-19 cases in Odisha fell below 2,000 on Monday with 1,982 cases reported in the last 24 hours.
The last time the state had recorded a daily case count below 2,000 was 1,977 on August 13.
According to the I&PR Department, the new cases reported overnight included 1,156 in quarantine and 826 local contacts.
Among the districts, Khurda reported the highest of 300 new cases, followed by Cuttack (145), Angul (119), Mayurbhanj (107), Sundargarh (98), Balangir (88), Balasore (86), Jajpur (86), Puri (72), Kendrapada (65), Bhadrak (63), Keonjhar (59), Dhenkanal (55), Jagatsinghpur (55), Nabarangpur (52), Jharsuguda (50), Bargarh (46), Sonepur (45), Kalahandi (43), Koraput (42), Malkangiri (41), Sambalpur (38), Nuapada (37), Nayagarh (33), Ganjam (24), Kandhamal (23), Deogarh (14), Boudh (11), Gajapati (10) and Rayagada (10).
Besides, the state pool has 65 cases.
Of the total case count of 2,70,346 in Odisha so far, 22,304 are active cases and 2,46,837 patients have recovered.
