Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Sunday suspended the normal functioning of the court till August 21 in the light of prevailing COVID-19 situation.
In a statement, the high court said it would have restricted functioning with limited number of Judges by virtual mode as per the roaster assigned by the Chief Justice.
It further said only extremely urgent matters will be taken up on advance memo of urgency submitted to the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) through e-filing mode/e-mail/Drop Box.
Similarly, the court would hear cases by virtual mode/video conferencing on the web link provided to the advocates/litigants, who may appear from their residence or offices. Filing of new cases during the period of lockdown are permitted only by e-filing mode or e-mail or drop box.
The High Court premises during the period shall remain closed except for minimal number of the authorized officers and staff for emergent duties. But all the staff of the court shall be required to stay at the headquarters, the statement said.
