Balasore: The district administration declared five areas in Karua Gram Panchayat of Basta block as containment zones on Monday after the detection of five COVID-19 positive cases.
The areas declared as containment zones are Debendra Giri Chhak (entrance point), Karua Primary School Chhak, Gangadhar Sahu Chhak, Das Sahi Chhak and Kai Simili Chhak.
Informing the media, district collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy said that the containment order in these areas will remain in force for a week with effect from 5 am on July 27 till 5 am till August 3.
Talking about the restrictions, he said all vehicular movement of public transport and personal movement will be stopped and all government and private institutions within the containment zones are closed. The residents within the containment zones shall strictly remain in home.
Stating that all shopping establishment of whatsoever nature shall be close, he, however, said that the supply of essentials and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by the block administration.
The collector said that the administration has deputed five officials as nodal officers to ensure smooth supply of essential commodities.
