COVID-19: Over 1.12 Lakh To Get 2nd Dose Of Vaccine In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The state government has directed the district collectors, municipal commissioners and CDM & PHOs to ensure 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccination to the beneficiaries in time.
In an official letter to the officials, PK Mohapatra, additional chief secretary, Health and Family Welfare department has reiterated that amid the current scenario of rising COVID-19 cases across the state, timely completion of 2-dose schedule is of paramount importance to ensure protection of the vulnerable section of the population against COVID-19 infection and reduce hospitalisation as well as mortality.
Two doses of COVID-19 vaccine are required to beneficiaries as per recommended interval for protection against the COVID without delay or omission.
As per the analysis of vaccination status in CoWIN portal of the state, 86,562 beneficiaries of Covishield and 26,430 beneficiaries Covaxin are due for the 2nd dose after an interval of 6 weeks and 4 weeks of the 1st dose respectively as on April 21.
Mohapatra requested the collectors, municipal commissioners and CDM & PHOs to instruct officials concerned to initiate the follow-up with due beneficiaries to ensure timely vaccination of 2nd dose as per schedule.
