New Delhi: An overnight addition of 61,537 cases took India’s COVID-19 tally to 20,88,612 on Saturday. India is emerging as the biggest COVID-19 hotspot in the world in August.
A total of 933 people succumbed to the infection across the country in last 24 hours, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The cumulative recovered cases (14,27,006) have surpassed the active cases by 8,07,998.
The national recovery rate improves to 68.32 per cent while the fatality rate continues to dip to 2.04 per cent, on a positive note.
The number of sample testing labs are seen increasing to 1396. According to ICMR, the total number of samples tested are 2,33,87,171 including 5,98,778 on Friday.
Brazil and the US have both registered more than 6,000 fatalities so far in August while India’s count is 5,075.
