Berhampur: The COVID-19 situation in hotspot Ganjam district seems to be improving with the recovery rate going up to 78 per cent and daily positivity rate decreasing by nearly 40 per cent (pc).
Stating this at a press meet, district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange on Saturday said the daily positivity rate has come down to 20 pc from 60 pc. The number of average positive cases per day in the district will be around 250 next week, he added.
Attributing the decline in positive cases to intensive health screening, the collector said testing has been increased by three times in the district. As many as 200 teams have been engaged in the fifth round of door-to-door screening in urban areas.
Kulange said there is no shortage of health infrastructure in the district. Three dedicated COVID hospitals with 530 beds and 90 ICU units are in operation now. Besides, 100 more beds will be added soon, he added.
