Berhampur: Amid the continuing surge in COVID-19 cases, the Gajapati administration on Friday restricted movement of people to and from Ganjam district and adjoining Srikakulam region of Andhra Pradesh.
“The ban also applies to people moving between Ganjam and Gajapati for duty on a daily basis,” Gajapati collector Anupam Saha said.
Ganjam has turned into a COVID hotspot in Odisha with the affected tally touching 3416. The administration has already sealed borders with Khurda and Nayagarh.

Meanwhile, door-to-door health screening is currently on in Gajapati district, which has so far reported 568 COVID-19 cases, to identify those with symptoms.

“On the first day of shutdown in Paralakhemundi, screening is continuing through infrared thermometer and pulse oximeter,” a tweet said. As many as 16 persons had tested positive for coronavirus in Paralakhemundi municipality area.
