Berhampur: A popular doctor of Soroda in Ganjam district and his wife died 24 hours apart while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at AIIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Dr Pitambar Khadanga died of COVID complications at AIIMS on Thursday. Just as the family was coming to terms with the loss, Dr Pitambar’s wife Ranjukta too lost her battle with the virus on Friday morning.
She was also undergoing treatment at the medical institution and her latest COVID report had come negative. Unfortunately, she went into a trauma after learning about her husband’s demise and passed away on Friday. Their last rites were performed in Bhubaneswar.
The couple is survived by two sons and a daughter. A doctor with 35 years experience, he was associated with Lions Club to serve people in the society.
