Cuttack: In order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in rural areas of Cuttack district, the administration has issued ‘red village’ tag to 155 villages.
Briefing the media on Sunday, Cuttack collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said that the villages have been divided into 21 clusters to expedite the active surveillance for the identification of patients.
He said out of a total 5174 confirmed cases in the district, 1734 patients are under treatment at the COVID hospitals and COVID Care Centres (CCCs) of which 1238 (62.18%) belong to urban areas and 496 (37.82%) to rural areas. The fatality rate in the district at present stands at 0.39%.
Talking about the steps taken by the district administration to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the collector said 1821 COVID management committees in rural areas and 113 committees in urban areas are working round-the-clock to spread awareness among the people about the virus and its remedial measures.
For the treatment of the patients, he said apart from the 150-bed Ashwini COVID hospital, the Sadguru COVID hospital having 150 beds is now operational. The hospital has also dialysis and other facilities for pregnant women, he added.
