COVID-19 Surge: ‘Odisha Govt Depts At Liberty To Decide On Staff Strength’

Bhubaneswar: The government departments have been given the liberty to decide their scale of operations.

The decision was taken by the government in view of the large scale outbreak of COVID-19 cases in some departments and heads of office in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

In a notification, the General Administration and Public Grievances department further stated that “In extreme cases, the office may be closed for purposes of disinfection or function with only skeletal staff in order to ensure that essential works do not suffer.”

Officers/staff who are not attending the office and have been provided VPN shall work from home. They must be available to attend any office work of urgent nature on short notice and be available on telephone at all times, the notice further read.

The administrative departments have ben authorised to decide about the scale of operation in subordinate and field offices, it stated.
