Bhawanipatna: In view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Kalahandi administration has closed the weekly haat at Bhawanipatna until further orders.
Collector Gavali Parag Harshad said that the entry of traders to the district from Chhattisgarh has been banned as the neighbouring state has been witnessing a surge in cases.

There is a heavy rush of people during the weekly haat in Bhawanipatna held twice a week on Tuesday and Saturday. Apart from the traders of Kalahandi, several others from Chhattisgarh also do business here.
Notably, the district has recorded 252 new COVID-19 cases in the last seven days with the highest of 57 cases on March 30.
Angul and Jharsuguda districts had earlier passed similar orders.
