COVID-19 Suspect In Odisha Refuses To Visit SCB Hospital For Tests
Khaira: An Odisha man, who recently returned to his native village in the state from China, has been running a fever since three days but is refusing to visit the SCB Hospital in Cuttack for COVID-19 screening, thereby raising eyebrows in the village.
According to reports, Jagannath Jena returned to his native village Sojagarh in Balasore district on February 20 from China via Malaysia and Delhi.
He was screened at both Malaysia and Delhi airports and tested negative for COVID-19. However, he caught a fever recently and visited Khaira Hospital and Balasore Hospital for a checkup. The doctors at Balasore advised him to visit SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack but he refused to do so.
“A team from Khaira Hospital went to Jagannath’s home Friday and advised him to go to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for checkup. However, he did not agree to do so,” said Dr. Prabhakar Mishra, the medical officer in-charge of Khaira PHC.
Villagers are scared that the COVID suspect may spread the illness across the village.
