Puri: The COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha’s Puri district went up to 586 on Saturday with 90 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.
The district administration, via a tweet, said that out of 586 cases, 141 are reported from Puri Municipality, 3 from Konark NAC and one each from Pipili NAC and Nimapara NAC area. The remaining 445 cases are from 11 blocks in Pipili, Satyabadi, Delang, Kanas, Puri Sadar, Brahmagiri, Krushnaprasad, Gop, Nimapara, Kakatpur and Astarang.
Puri has a total of 239 active cases, two patients have died of the infection while 343 patients have recovered and “are being discharged” from the COVID hospital.
Out of a total of 79 containment zones, the containment order is in force in 37 areas while it is withdrawn from 42 areas.
Talking to mediapersons, Puri collector Balwant Singh said that due to active surveillance in the district, the number of positive cases has gone up.
He said that to identify more people infected with the virus, the COVID testing is being conducted in all 10 blocks except Astarang, Community Health Centres (CHCs) and the district headquarters.
Keeping the rising number of positive cases in mind, the collector urged the people to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and cooperate with the administration to contain further spread of the virus.
