New Delhi: An addition of 75,809 cases overnight took India’s COVID-19 tally past 42.5 lakh to 42,80,442 on Tuesday.
The daily cases saw a decline as the country was reporting over 90,000 cases for two consecutive days.
Besides, the Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday that 1,133 more patients had succumbed to the infection in India in the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 72,775. The country reported its highest increase in the number of COVID-19 related deaths compared to July 23 when 1,129 fatalities were reported.
At present, there are 8,83,697 active cases in the country (20.99 per cent of the total cases) and the recovery rate stands at 77.31 per cent. Also, 33,23,951 patients in the country have recovered so far with over 73,521 recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours.
India conducts more than five crore total tests. According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 5,06,50,128 samples have been tested till date, including Monday’s 10,98,621.
