New Delhi: The country recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 4,213 new patients being detected from across the states, according to the Health Ministry.
With this fresh count, the affected tally in the country reached 67,152 while 2,206 people have succumbed to the deadly virus so far.
While Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected with 22,171 virus-afflicted, adding 1,943 cases on Sunday, Gujarat’s corona count stands at 8,194 with 493 deaths. The coronavirus pandemic touched another high in Tamil Nadu with 7,204 cases, making it the third most affected state in the country.
The return of migrants also triggered the infections with cases spiralling to 391 and 696 in Odisha and Bihar respectively.
However, no fresh COVID-19 have been reported in 10 states and Union Territories in the last 24 hours and the recovery rate has increased to over 30 per cent with 1,511 having been fully cured in a single day, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan told media on Sunday.
