New Delhi: An overnight addition of 60,975 new cases took the COVID-19 tally in India to 31,67,324 on Tuesday.
The fatality rate dipped below 2 per cent with 848 more patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said.
India’s Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 1.86 per cent is one of the lowest globally.
The COVID-19 toll in India now stands at 58,390.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
About 75.9 per cent (24,04,585) people have recovered from the infection with 66,550 patients being discharged on Monday. Another 22.20 per cent (7,04,348) are still under treatment.
The number of recovered people are more than three times the number of active cases in the country.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3,68,27,520 samples have been tested in the country so far, including 9,25,383 on Monday.
