Bhubaneswar: Owing to shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, the Health and Family Welfare department had to close 900 session sites in Odisha on Sunday.
Informing the media about it, Director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said while the vaccination is underway at 579 session sites, more centres will be closed from Monday as the stock will get exhausted by today.
“COVID vaccination will continue in the session sites of the districts that have received 2.5 lakh doses of vaccines on Saturday. However, the session sites in the remaining districts, having no fresh stock of vaccines will be closed,” Panigrahi said and added that priority on vaccination is given to the districts that have reported more positive cases.
Referring to the present stock of vaccines in the state, he said the state has 2,33,000 doses of Covishield and 77,960 doses of Covaxin vaccines.
