New Delhi: To augment the Oxygen availability in the country for meeting the requirement of patients affected by the COVID-19, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has decided to set up Oxygen plants at its fertiliser units at Paradip and three other places.

The plants would come up at the fertiliser unit in Odisha, Phulpur and Aonla in Uttar Pradesh and Kalol in Gujarat.

IFFCO Managing director U S Awasthi said that the Oxygen plant at the Kalol unit in Gujarat will be made operational within two weeks. “The plant will produce 700 cylinders of oxygen a day. Each cylinder will have a capacity of 46 7 litre with medical-grade oxygen of 99.5 per cent purity,” he said.

A total of Rs 7 crore will be invested on the plant, which will produce around 33,000 litres of Oxygen per day, he said.

We have also placed an order for setting up three more similar plants at our fertiliser units at Aonla, Phulpur and Paradip,” Awasthi further said.
The oxygen produced at these plants will be provided to hospitals free of cost for treatment of COVID-19 patients, he added.
