Puri: The Puri district administration on Saturday declared an 11-day shutdown of Danagahira village in Pipili block after a villager tested positive for COVID-19 following his return from Nizamuddin in New Delhi.
Puri Collector Balwant Singh said the village has been declared a containment zone and will be sealed from 7 am on Saturday to midnight of April 14. Besides, adjoining areas of the village such as Danagahira Chhak, Jayapur Chhak and Jayapur Sasan Chhak will also be shut down as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.
“Instructions have been given to the local administration and police not to allow the entry of any outsider to the shutdown areas and ensure that the people of these areas remain inside their houses,” Singh said, adding that all government and private offices, organizations and trading establishments in the shutdown areas will remain closed.
He further said that the district sub-collector has been asked to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential items for the people in these areas.
