Bhubaneswar: The capital city achieved another milestone in vaccination drive against COVID-19. Bhubaneswar crossed the 25 lakh mark by vaccinating 26,48,813 vaccine doses to beneficiaries across all eligible age groups.
The vaccination drive being carried out by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the direct supervision of Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Singh covers more than 1,600 people in a day.
Till November 14, 14,00,349 beneficiaries were given the first dose while 12,48,464 citizens were fully vaccinated, the BMC stated in a release. Of the total, 8,26,631 people in the 18 to 44 years group have taken the first shot while 7,35,152 are fully vaccinated.
In the age group of 45 years and above, 4,76,284 beneficiaries have taken the first corona vaccine while 4,22,874 were fully vaccinated.
Priority was given to frontline workers who have contributed to contain COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 56,328 beneficiaries have been administered with the first shot while 50,534 were fully vaccinated with both the shots.
A total of 36,106 healthcare workers have taken the first shot while 33,204 beneficiaries have taken both the shots.
On the other hand, the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign, to ensure that no person is left behind in the vaccination exercise, is also being actively carried out in the city.
The door-to-door vaccine campaign was launched earlier this month with special focus on second dose vaccination. People who have not been administered the first dose, are being vaccinated during the campaign, stated the BMC release.
Special teams visited around 1,075 households across the city till and identified 178 unvaccinated households. Out of it, around 2,500 eligible beneficiaries are fully vaccinated.
