Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha climbed to 7,289 on Saturday with 66 more deaths being confirmed in the past 24 hours.
The list of daily fatalities includes past deaths for which an audit was done and the cause identified as COVID, the Health Department said.
Odisha has so far seen 1,387 deaths due to the disease this month.
While 660 deaths were reported in May, the number swelled to 1,272 in June and it rose further to 1,884 in July.
While 848 in the age group of 0-18 years have been infected since August 15 when the state government started mapping the paediatric population, among the COVID deaths confirmed in the last 24 hours is a 16-year-old girl of Cuttack district.
With this, the number of children and adolescents who lost their lives to COVID during the second wave in the state has gone up to 27.
The deaths of a 13-year-old boy, a month-old baby girl and a nine-year-old boy due to the deadly disease were reported on Friday, Thursday and Tuesday respectively.

Among the fresh fatalities, the highest of 11 are from Jagatsinghpur, followed by 10 from Cuttack, 8 from Dhenkanal, 7 from Kendrapada, 6 each from Angul and Jajpur, 5 from Bhadrak, 4 from Balasore, 3 from Khurda, 2 each from Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Keonjhar,

3.A 50 years old of Female of Angul District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
4.A 35 years old of Male of Angul District.
5.A 55 years old of Male of Angul District who was also suffering from Hypertension.
6.A 52 years old of Female of Angul District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
7.A 65 years old of Female of Balasore District.
8.A 65 years old of Male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
9.A 45 years old of Male of Balasore District.
10.A 73 years old of Female of Jagatsinghpur District who was also suffering from Hypertension & Diabetes Mellitus.
11.A 44 years old of Female of Balasore District.
12.A 65 years old of Male of Bhadrak District.
13.A 53 years old of Female of Bhadrak District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
