New Delhi: India registered over 4 lakh daily COVID-19 cases for the second straight day on Friday with 4,14,188 infections reported in the last 24 hours.
The fresh cases were also the biggest spike in the country so far, taking the active caseload to 36,45,164.
India also reported 3,915 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Centre informed on Friday. With this, more than 2.34 lakh people in the country have succumbed to COVID-19 so far.
In an unprecedented surge during the second wave of the pandemic, the country has been reporting over 3 lakh new COVID-19 cases daily for the last two weeks. Earlier this week, India’s overall cases since the start of the pandemic breached the two crore-mark.
