COVID Curbs: Shops In Cuttack To Remain Closed After 2 PM From This Date
Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has decided to close all shops, excluding medicine stores, after 2 pm to check the spread of coronavirus.
The new regulations will remain in force for 15 days, from May 3 (Monday) to May 18.
However, essential shops and unloading activities at Malgodown and Chhatra Bazaar, the state’s two biggest wholesale markets for vegetables and groceries, will be allowed during this period, informed CMC Commissioner Ananya Das.
Das said the decision was taken after a meeting with various market and trader associations in the city and they had proposed to shut the markets from 2 pm. “We are hopeful that the step will help in breaking the COVID chain,” she added.
The district had reported 570 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours while it was 286 the previous day.
