COVID Deaths Remain A Point Of Concern In Odisha; 20 Or More Daily Fatalities In Last 11 Days

Bhubaneswar: Deaths because of COVID-19 in Odisha remain a cause of concern even though the number of positive cases has dropped below 1000.

In the last 11 days, 20 or more fatalities are being confirmed daily by the Health Department.

The overall toll in the state touched 8,904 on Monday (February 14) with 21 more deaths due to the deadly disease. Odisha had seen 23 deaths on February 4, 22 on February 5, 23 on February 6, 20 on February 7, 21 on February 8, 22 on February 9, 21 on February 10, 20 on February 11, 24 on February 12 and 22 on February 13.

Among the new deaths, the highest of six are from Balasore followed by Jajpur at 4.

Details of deceased:

1.A 65 years old Male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Chronic Kidney Disease.

2.A 65 years old Female of Balasore District.

3.A 55 years old Male of Balasore District.

4.A 81 years old Male of Balasore District.

5.A 65 years old Male of Balasore District.

6.A 63 years old Female of Balasore District.

7.A 35 years old Female of Bhadrak District.

8.A 81 years old Female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Asthma & Hypertension.

9.A 65 years old Female of Cuttack District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease & Uremic Encephalopathy.

10.A 65 years old Male of Cuttack District who was also suffering from Cerebro Vascular Accident & Hypertension.

11.A 45 years old Female of Dhenkanal District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

12.A 82 years old Female of Jagatsinghpur District who was also suffering from Coronary Artery Disease, Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

13.A 74 years old Male of Jajpur District who was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease & Anaemia.

14.A 53 years old Female of Jajpur District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Chronic Kidney Disease, Anemia & Hypoalbuminea.

15.A 82 years old Female of Jajpur District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Old Cerebro Vascular Accident.

16.A 72 years old Female of Jajpur District.

17.A 55 years old Female of Keonjhar District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease & Hypertension.

18.A 34 years old Female of Kendrapada District who was also suffering from Chronic Rheumatic Heart Disease.

19.A 93 years old Male of Puri District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

20.A 82 years old Male of Puri District who was also suffering from Hypertension.

After reporting fatalities in single digits till Thursday (January 27) and none the following day, the state crossed the double figures with 10 deaths on January 28 and another 15 on January 29. The COVID tally was 19 on January 30 and 18 on January 31.

While 23 deaths were confirmed on February 4, the details of the patients were not shared on the official handle of the department and this was also the case on February 3 when 18 casualties were reported. Odisha had seen 19 casualties on February 2 and among them were three children aged 4, 14 and 15 years and  17 on February 1.
