Sambalpur: In view of the rising cases of COVID-19, the Sambalpur district administration on Tuesday declared a 10-day shutdown with effect from Wednesday.
Sambalpur Collector Shubham Saxsena said the shutdown in the entire district will remain in force from July 22 to July 31 in two phases. While the first-phase shutdown will be enforced from July 22 to 25 and the second phase from July 26 to 31.
During the shutdown, there will be no public and private transport. Except for the transport of essential goods, the movement of two-wheelers will also be restricted in the district. Besides, all business and trading establishments, government and private offices will also remain closed.
The collector, however, added that essential services like hospitals, clinics, medicine outlets, filling stations, and milk booths will remain open while roadside dhabas will be allowed to provide takeaway food in packets to customers.
