Berhampur: The sale of fish from Chilika Lake was indefinitely banned in Ganjam district from Saturday.
Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said the decision was taken after a fish trader at Balugaon tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
Kulange informed that the fish market near Chilika lake and two fish godowns and three ice factories belonging to the infected trader in Balugaon were sealed.
He further said that as part of the ban, no vehicle from Ganjam district will be allowed to bring in fish from Balugaon. Similarly, no vehicle carrying fish from Balugaon will be allowed to enter Ganjam district, he added.
