Balangir: Flouting lockdown guidelines blatantly, an 18-year-old youth from the western district of Balangir played cricket in his village and had a haircut. He tested positive for COVID-19 on May 1.
He had reached Balangir on March 17 from textile hub Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, by Dhanbad Express. He came to Lekhiria village from railway station in a hired vehicle along with four co-passengers.
He remained in home quarantine from March 18 to April 5, but played cricket with friends thereafter and also went for a haircut at Salepalli within April 30.
Salons are supposed to remain closed during lockdown.
He was tested because of his travel history and was admitted to Balangir COVID hospital on May 1.
Notably, a 20-year-old youth of Golamunda in Kalahandi had contracted the virus after playing cricket with a Bahrain-returned man, who had earlier tested corona positive in the district.
