COVID Surge: Community Transmission-Like Situation In Odisha’s Cuttack!
Cuttack: Going by the rising trend in COVID-19 cases in Cuttack district, a senior official on Saturday warned that a community transmission-like situation has emerged in the district.
The nodal officer of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Dr Umesh Ray, told the media that the unprecedented rise in the daily caseload in Cuttack city and the district could be due to community transmission.
He said that it is up to senior scientists at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to find out whether such a situation has emerged in the district or not.
Ray stated that the COVID surge in the district will peak in 5-6 days. He, however, added that the number of daily caseloads in the district will gradually come down thereafter.
Asked about the rise in COVID-19 cases in Cuttack city, he said it is due to the arrival of hundreds of people from the other districts and neighbouring states.
It may be mentioned that the COVID-19 cases in Cuttack district in the last 15 days since April 23 have gone up to 9013.
