Bhubaneswar: A top health official on Saturday warned that some states including Kerala have witnessed a sudden surge in COVID positive cases and this should serve as a caution for Odisha.
Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra said the daily caseload and the test positivity rate (TPR) in Odisha have come down appreciably, but the number of positive cases in Khurda, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts has remained high.
Although there is no substantial rise in positive cases in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the number continues to fluctuate, Mohapatra added.
“We have to identify the hotspot areas in these two cities and ramp up active surveillance,” he told the media.
“Each pandemic has waves. Although experts have pointed out that the subsequent waves of a pandemic have lower intensity, it is not found in the case of COVID-19 due to the mutant variations. As a result, the effect of the second wave on the people is relatively severe,” he said.
