COVID Update: 50% Of New & Active Cases In ‘Hotspot’ Khurda & Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a marginal fall in daily COVID caseload on Saturday with 1132 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state had been witnessing a steady rise in new cases for four days after the number dropped below 1000 on August 9.
After a day’s dip of 886, the daily caseload rose to 1041 on August 10 while another 1078 were found infected the day after. On Thursday, 1107 more COVID cases were detected. Friday saw 1193 people testing positive for the virus.
According to the I & PR department, 657 of the new infections are from quarantine cases and 475 local contacts. The test positivity rate stood at 1.64 per cent against 1.67 per cent the previous day.
Khurda reported the highest 410 cases followed by Cuttack district at 197.

With this, Odisha now has 10,632 cases. Khurda continues to be in the red zone with 3898 active cases followed by Cuttack at 1317.
