Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in the capital city on Tuesday reported the second-highest single-day spike with 1116 cases in the last 24 hours.
Among the new cases, 177 are quarantine while the local contact cases constitute 84 per cent (939).
With this, the active cases in the city have gone up to 8947.
In terms of the number of positive cases, Patia has the maximum 50 cases followed by Nayapalli (49), Old Town, Khandagiri and Rasulgarh (36 each), Dumduma and Chandrasekharpur (35 each), Baramunda and Unit-IX (34 each), Laxmisagar (31), Jharpada (30), Bomikhal (25),Unit-VIII (22), BJB Nagar (21), Badagada, Sundarpada and Unit-VI (20 each), Niladri Vihar and Unit-III (18 each) and Shastri Nagar (17).
On the other hand, 656 patients in the city have recovered taking the total recoveries to 39,016 and the total active cases to 48,256.
Notably, the total positive cases in Bhubaneswar have gone up to 15,523 since April 1 with the highest 1119 cases reported on April 29.
Out of a total of 76,003 cases in Khurda district, Bhubaneswar now accounts for 63 per cent.
