COVID Upsurge: Will Lockdown-Like Curbs Return To Some Cities & Districts In Odisha?

Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra is scheduled to make an important announcement on COVID-19 management in Odisha on Sunday.

Will the Odisha government announce tougher measures to break the infection chain amid the exploding cases and soaring death toll?

Odisha saw the biggest-ever spike of 10413 new cases on Saturday. The state added 8015 more cases to its affected tally in the last 24 hours, which also saw 14 lives being lost to the deadly disease.

The test positivity rate is nearly 20 per cent in the state.

At least 19 districts are in the red zone with over 1000 active cases.

Notably, Mumbai was able to arrest its positivity rate, which dropped to 9.9 per cent on Saturday from 28 per cent on April 4 with severe, curfew-like restrictions on public movement in the entire state.
