Cow Sustains Critical Injuries As Bomb Explodes In Its Mouth In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: In another example of pitiable condition of stray domestic animals, a cow was seriously injured after a bomb exploded in her mouth in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the incident took place when the cow was grazing in an agricultural field at Ramapalli village under Tanganapalli panchayat of Chatrapur block in the district. The bomb was concealed in a polythene bag to hunt wild boars which were damaging the crops.

The cow consumed the bag presuming that it would contain food. As she chewed the bag, the bomb inside it exploded. The villagers rushed the cow which was bleeding profusely from mouth to veterinary doctors, the sources said.

In two similar incidents, one cow was injured seriously after a bomb exploded inside her mouth at Fulta village under Rangeilunda block in August last year and another cow was injured at Kendupata village near Khallikote town in January, 2021.

Similarly, 30-kg polythene was also extracted from the stomach of a cow who was lying in pain at Giri Road Berhampur for two days in August last year.

In another incident, a sharp blade was pulled out from a cow’s mouth in Berhampur in May last year and one injection syringe needle was recovered from a cow’s mouth in October, 2022.
