Crorepati Police SI Arrested In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance on Friday arrested sub-inspector (SI) of police Abhimanyu Choudhury after he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which was 113% higher than his known sources of income.
The Vigilance sleuths conducted raids on the properties of the SI posted at Tomando police station in Odisha capital on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday morning following allegation of being in possession of disproportionate assets.
During house searches, the Vigilance found following movable and immovable assets in the name of Abhimanyu and his family members;
1) One four-storey building worth over Rs 1.5 crore in Bhubaneswar.
2) One single-storey worth Rs 6.22 lakh in Nayagarh.
3) 8 plots including 7 plots in prime area in and around Bhubaneswar and 1 plot in Nayagarh. The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to about Rs 90 lakh.
4) Bank deposits worth Rs 78.80 lakh.
5) Cash over Rs 1.75 lakh.
6) A four-wheeler worth Rs 6.95 lakh.
7) Three two-wheelers worth Rs 1.89 lakh.
8) Gold and silver ornaments and household articles worth Rs 15.90 lakh.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of the SI were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which is 113% higher than his known sources of income.
Following the arrest, the SI was forwarded to the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. He has been remanded to jail custody till December 27.
