Crude Bombs Found In Factory, Belongs To Accused In Pandian’s House Vandalism: Police

Bhubaneswar: The police on Friday said the factory from where 32 live country-made bombs were found from Jharpada here belongs to the accused who was involved in the vandalism inside the official residence of IAS officer and private secretary to Chief Minister, VK Pandian.

Talking to media persons here, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said the five youths arrested by the police in this connection, have told the police that they were engaged by Kunu Jena, from whose fabrication unit the bombs were seized, to perpetrate vandalism inside the official residence premises of the IAS officer.

The five arrested accused identified as Subashish Sahani from Athgarh area in Cuttack district, Jyoti Prakash Mohanty from Puri district, Srikant Nayak and Sipun Kabi from Cuttack city area and Paban Nayak from Dhenkanal district, have several cases of murder and attempt to murder pending in different police stations in the state.

The DCP further said the police would bring Kunu Jena on remand for further interrogation.

The incident had taken place in the morning on February 10 when around 40 BJYM activists attacked the security guard and barged into Pandian’s residential premises and damaged flower vases and some bikes. They also hurled cow slurry at the wall and the main gate of his residence.

With the arrest of five persons, the total number of arrest in this incident has gone up to 14, police said.
