New Delhi: In a boost to local manufacturing, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has put additional restrictions on certain tyre imports to the country.
The importers of pneumatic tyres including tubeless and radials used in cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles would require additional permission or licence from DGFT, Team-BHP reported.
Earlier, there was no such restriction and importers could bring in tyres after paying custom duties.
This was a demand by the domestic tyre association and it will help curb the import bill for non-essential goods.
