Custodial Torture: Odisha Human Rights Body Asks Rourkela SP To Submit Probe Report
Bhubaneswar: Taking suo motu cognizance to media report on the custodial torture of a minor boy in Udit Nagar police station in Rourkela, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Monday directed Rourkela SP to investigate the matter and submit a report.
“It is reported in the newspaper that a destitute boy belonging to Rourkela Timber Colony was taken to a police station at Rourkela, where he was beaten and kicked by boot. It is stated that the police instead of sending the boy to Swadhar Home, detained him inside the police station without providing him any food,” the Commission said.
The Commission directed the SP to submit the probe report by February 15.
