Cuttack Begins Contact Tracing Of COVID-Afflicted Doctor

Cuttack: A day after a doctor at City Hospital here tested positive for COVID-19, the Cuttack district administration deployed a surveillance team to conduct his contact tracing on Wednesday.

“Contact tracing has begun at CDA Sector, City Hospital and two private nursing homes, one in Cuttack and one in Kendrapara. The swab tests of those who came in contact with the doctor will be done and they will remain in home quarantine,” Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani informed the media.

According to reports, the COVID-afflicted doctor is a resident of CDA Sector-6 in Cuttack and works as a paediatrician at the City Hospital OPD. He also treats patients at his clinic in Kendrapara and his residence in Cuttack.

The doctor had shown symptoms of coronavirus during his stay in Kendrapara. His throat swab was collected for test and the report came back positive.

Meanwhile, the paediatric OPD at City Hospital and the doctor’s clinics have been shut down and his Cuttack residence sanitized. The surveillance team has collected the swabs from 20 persons including his family members along with doctors, nurses and pharmacists at City Hospital for examination.
